From “Pop-Up” to Permanent: The Evolution of Domaine Fortier
If you’ve spent any time at Domaine Fortier Vineyards recently, you know the vibe is as much about the “secret garden” experience as it is about the award-winning Albariño. But while their quaint wisteria-draped greenhouses and scenic outdoor pavilion have become local favorites, the owners are preparing for a massive “next act”.
A New Home for Small-Lot Excellence
Owners Stephen and Jennifer Fortier have confirmed that the “boutique” label is getting a bold new upgrade. In the latter part of 2026, the vineyard will break ground on a brand-new permanent tasting room.
Currently, the experience is wonderfully intimate, focusing on small-lot, handcrafted wines like their 2023 Gold Medal Albariño and the Bordeaux-style “Le Pivot”. The new facility is designed to scale that “elevated experience” while maintaining the family-run charm that makes this Lovettsville estate feel like a private discovery.
Music in the Vines
The expansion isn’t just about more square footage for sipping. The new space will finally provide a dedicated venue for live music, turning the 34-acre estate into a true community hub for the Catoctin Valley. Imagine a glass of White Merlot in hand, the sun setting over the Short Hill Mountains, and a local acoustic set providing the soundtrack.
What to Expect in the Meantime
Don’t wait for 2026 to visit. The current setup is arguably at its most charming:
Summer & Fall: The outdoor pavilion is open May through November, offering panoramic mountain vistas.
Winter: The “cutest greenhouse seating” in Loudoun, complete with fire pits and s’mores to keep the chill at bay.
The Wine: With Nate Walsh (of Walsh Family Wine) at the winemaking helm, every bottle is a masterclass in Northern Virginia terroir.
Domaine Fortier is living proof that “going big” doesn’t mean losing your soul. It just means more room for the rest of us to join the party.
